The New Generation Revolution: The Vision

I decided to make an entry about what NG-Revolution or NG-Station means. You know, when my sis saw my link for my blog, she was asking "who's this Ng person?" O_0... No no no, ng is not a surname..

This whole NG thing came to me when I went shopping with my friend, we were trying to decide what style we should have, and then try to find some clothes that suit the style we chose. At that time the style that came to my mind was a set of modern kind of clothes to wear for work. A style for a stylish, smart and modern blue-collar worker. In other words, I named it as "NG上班族" (New Generation Worker). Since then, there was this idea of how the new generation is going to be.

When I looked at my dad going to work, I thought his clothes were boring. The attire for workers now are really formulated. Like if you have 20 pairs of different working pants in your wardrobe and you wear a different one each day, who's going to notice? They are all black colour, same size, they also have similar if not same cuttings. (With exception that Mr. Loga wears a green pants.. wahaha.. no offense Loga.. it's a good sign of ng-revolution!!) Same goes to the shirts, only the colours are different. These monotonous attires need a revolution! Im not saying that you should wear something too bizzare to work, but at least try to vary and modify the styles. The whole point is to let yourself feel good, feel confident. You will have a good mood going to work wearing nice clothes! Your working environment would also be more cheerful. By then, not only teenagers will have fashion sense! No, of course not, your dad might just have great fashion sense, just that their time to show off their fashion sense was over?

Our country is developing. Look at the shopping malls today, they're packed. And a lot of them are not window shopping. People now don't just shop during special occasions like CNY or Hari Raya. They shop in their leisure time, as their interest. Shopping malls that I deemed as "high class" shopping mall such as starhill, back in those days when I was a kid, I only see foreigners buying stuffs from there. But now, that's not the case anymore. Even in the music industry, chinese music industry in particular is developing rapidly. The sales of CDs are increasing. Now, there are so many artists who sold over 10, 000 albums. What Im trying to say is, the market here is developing, people can afford to buy stuffs for their own satisfaction, to enjoy life.

I can sense a revolution brewing under the atmosphere from the signs that I've seen. For example, the transformation of the sight I'm seeing in shopping malls. People nowadays are really fashionable. In fact, in the past few months, people started wearing different style of clothes, like some girls having thick black mascara, who look somewhat like Amy Lee.. And all the weird clothes. Then there's a whole gang of people up to 10 persons wearing all black, wooo so stylish! People are having the guts to wear and potray a different style now. A lot of girls are putting on make ups now. There's a tendency in fashion here, like last year, guys love wearing Extreme's clothes. And guys now love wearing pink shirts or some double layer shirts. And guys also love wearing pants/jeans with a few strips or some belts hanging out. Girls on the other hand like to wear western Indian-ish skirt and some small jackets. Then there's also some 复古 styles, some Malay and Chinese girls are leaning towards Japanese style. Hairstyle? You could see some really Yeah hairstyle! And now, dying hair is no longer tagged as "gangster" or "lala".. It's so common now, almost 80% of my school leaver friends got their hairs dyed now.

So yeah, Im a metro. When I said that, there are still people who widen their eyes like this O.O. I don't mind anymore. My looks is my asset, it's what God had given me and it's my responsibility to take care of it!! LoL.. I would regret in the next 10 years if Im not taking care of it now. Almost all guys now care about their looks, maybe they just mind bout their looks a lil bit, but no doubt looks are important. Who doesn't care about your looks clap your hands! So why do students spike their hair even after getting caught by prefects so many time? For the joy of breaking rules? I doubt that.. I am aware of the importance to take care of my looks rather late compared to my friends. Some of my guy friends even do facial and trying a few facial products during school days. Im just not so concious about looks and way too lazy to keep a good image in school back then. Nonetheless, I'm vain to some extent too, I don't do manicure, pedicure or put on make-ups, etc. I don't mind guys doing it, just don't overdo it.

Besides this, I also noticed that now girls who are trying to lose weight, they are doing it in a healthy way. No one would want to slim down until their skin on their face drooping down wrapping their skulls with all the wrinkles on their faces. Even some slimming products or programmes are now made and conducted in a healthy way. Not eating for days is so not the way to lose weight now. People would prefer to eat salad and do exercise now! Girls are not that desperate now, lol. There's a good quote from Jolin too. Im not sure if she quoted from someone or it's her own line, but here's how it goes:
世上没有丑女人, 只有懒女人! (There's no ugly girls in the world, only lazy girls)
I believe it very much. Not only girls, but everyone. Everyone is beautiful in this world in our own way. Just take some time to take care of your looks. If some figures of you don't look nice, try to conceal it, or maybe the figure you think doesn't look nice might just make you original and unique. You're different doesn't mean you're ugly. You could try to twist your 'ugly feature' to your favour and potray it beautifully. For example, Bi thought his 'mata sepets' are ugly. But the way he potrays it makes him looks good. When he smiles, the 'mata sepets' just made him look cute/sweet. So find a style that suits you, make your weird styles original and label it as your trademark. Beauty is very abstract, 见仁见智, one man's meat is another man's poison!!

Ohhhh... seemed like I'm a bit far fetched now. Ok, back to the topic. Whatever you wear, whatever style you decided to put on, us, as a new generation we need to have confidence and inner beauty. For confidence and inner beauty are the only beauty that will last. With confidence and inner beauty it'll make us look more radiant and attractive. So these are but only a fraction of qualities of what our new generation should possess. Other qualities? I think despite of all the newly-fangled technologies, we should also be spiritual, something we could hold strong to, something we turn to when we're lost, something that would keep us from the negativities and impurities. We should also be well equipped with knowledge. Im working hard to achieve this now. Should definitely shed off my laziness and maybe I could start with reading newspapers or reading some books rather than spending half of my day going online doing nothing.

So, it's about time now. I declare for a New Generation Revolution! I am not a good New Generation example. But let us work hard towards achieving it.

Imagine what our city or what our world going to be, say like next 15 years?
It's 4am in the morning, some people are just on their way back home, some are just getting to work. Whether they're going home or going to work, they'll stop by on the NG Station every day. A station to put down your fast paces, a place to chill out. There's a Cafe house in the station, people chat in there, relaxing while sipping their cup of tea. Then there are people in the corner using their laptops doing their works, or some just browse around in the net. Music playing softly through the speaker. Imagine it is playing Kaskade's Steppin' Out! How relaxing!

Through the glasses of the cafe house, you could see a city well litted. A city that never sleeps. The blue-ish bullet like train arriving one after another to the station. People came in and leave the station ceaselessly, people pass by the station everyday, you'll see some regulars and some new faces every day. I don't think people should always be busy and walk in a fast pace all the time, it's too tiring, too tiring. Slow down your paces in this station, ease up, and enjoy the things around you, absorb the beauty sights around you.

Who knows what's in store for your in the next station of your life.

Hereby, as a station-master, Im gonna make an announcement:
"Welcome abroad to the NG-Station! And have a nice day ^_^!!"

(Isn't it a bit late to do an intro to my blog? lol)

here's the thing, if no shops even sell newly designed formal wear for workers, then how are we suppose to be "ng"...it's not like out of the blue, we get new freakin' apparells...

Love the idea anyway!!

I think ppl like to follow trends in which i despise them...as u said, we need to have our own styles...especially the ones who have spiked hairs on...

I believe there might be some shops selling newly designed formal wear, if not, I think there will be soon. There are a lot of aspiring fashion designers out there, it'd be a shame if they are not going to design some more creative formal wears. I really admire my friend's passion, she has got great visions. For one, I believe, she's going to make this NG-clothes a reality. Her dream is to make modern wedding dress and owns her own shop. She has already got so many ideas on her mind.

This discussion yeah, might be out of date. But I just gotta bring it up cos Im really noticing changes here, in our city, that somehow might bring us to a more 'ng' community. Plus, I wanted to make a proper introduction to my blog and explain what ng means.
